Foreword

The training addresses everyone who intends to attain, for various purposes, the instruments for a profound understanding of ones experience and the times s/he is living in whether this be for obtaining a certification within the profession or for personal understanding.

The training

Requirements for the access to the training

At minimum a first level Laurea Degree in the area of Humanistic and/or Social Sciences is required to begin the formation.  Admission to the training occurs after an interview and agreement of the director of the school; a possible start of the course of self-knowledge prior to the achievement of the Laurea Degree may be considered propaedeutic to the training with a prior request of the candidate and the assessment of the school's director.

Didactic modalities

The training is structured in three levels (all are reserved for the students and one is open to the public):

a) individual conversations, individual conversations of one hour per week;

b) weekly seminar meetings, meetings of two/four hours each, structured in weekly theme based group conversations from October to June. Occasionally, external persons (those who are not taking the training) can be accepted at the weekly seminar meetings, after an interview with the school's management.

c) "open meetings," namely free meetings open to the public on a session basis.

Duration of the formation

- Minimum 4 years, plus 1 of internship.
- 4 years is also the training period as "conductor of small groups". The training, as a deepening of the existential themes as well as a real and proper moment of professional improvement (open also to psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, psychotherapists and philosophical consultants), is open to all those who are interested in acquiring the necessary instruments for an investigation of the depth of one’s existence and the reality s/he is living in. The training requires a notable sensitivity to a philosophical and psychological approach and a curiosity towards the most various fields of existence. To complete the training and achieve the diploma it is required that the professor agrees and ascertains both, the inclination to the profession, as well as the dedication and the constancy shown during the training. The relatively long training period is required to ascertain the ethical profile of the candidate.

Professional profiles

From a professional point of view, at the and of the training period and with a certificate, those who have attended the school can operate as philosopher and therapist within the professional community or by opening a study of philosophical practice and/or clinic. That of the philosopher is a profound therapy of self-knowledge, s/he is a professional who listens to personal narratives with the aim of providing the tools necessary for a soulful knowledge of oneself.
S/he is an existential consultant who is asked to advise about the many questions and aspects of existence, going from the research and realization of one’s professional vocation to one’s affective life, from the discovery of the dynamics of civil commitment to the individuation of personal religious and spiritual dimension. The philosopher/analyst will be able to analyse, in depth, political, economical and social problems, local as well as international, and contribute to the solution or operate as a consultant of institutions, public administrations, political subjects, companies, economic and social organizations.
